I am a psychologist in supervised practice and received my PhD in clinical psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University). I completed my pre-doctoral residency at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH). I have worked in a variety of settings, including hospitals, family health teams, and in private practice. Currently in addition to my private practice work, I work as a staff psychologist at SJHH in the Borderline Personality Disorders Service and Youth Wellness Centre.
I am interested in providing psychotherapy services to transition-aged youth (ages 18-25) and adults who struggle with emotional and behavioural difficulties, including depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress, borderline personality disorder, relationship problems, and work burnout. I am also interested in helping my clients explore self-identity - whether in looking into how past experiences have informed your present or how your cultural identities have shaped your understanding of the world, or exploring your values together. My clinical practice is client-centred, and informed by dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), emotion-focused therapy (EFT), cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
I believe that my role as a therapist is to connect with my clients’ aliveness, humanity, and wholeness; to empower and collaborate with my clients to find ways to understand and accept painful emotional experiences; and to help my clients work towards their goals for a life worth living.
I am a 1.5 generation immigrant with roots in Hong Kong.
